Lucknow-Gorakhpur Intercity: AC coach missing from train, passengers travel in heat

Passengers of the Lucknow-Gorakhpur Intercity (Train 12532) faced severe hardship on Saturday, May 23, 2026. The railway staff forgot to attach the C-3 AC coach at Gomti Nagar station, forcing passengers with confirmed AC tickets to travel in the general bogies during intense heat.

What happened with the Lucknow-Gorakhpur Intercity

Passengers including Sagir Khan and Vinay Kumar had booked seats in the AC coach. However, when the train arrived at Gomti Nagar station, the C-3 coach was missing. Due to the extreme heat, passengers had to carry their luggage and travel in crowded general compartments. The affected passengers raised their complaints on X, tagging the Railway Minister and the DRM.

Official reason for the missing coach

The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of North Eastern Railway (NER) addressed the issue. According to the DRM, the C-3 coach was damaged, which is why it could not be attached to the train. This incident has sparked anger among passengers who paid for AC services but received no cooling facilities.
