Western Railway has officially canceled the planned night jumbo block between Mumbai Central and Mahim, originally scheduled for the intervening night of July 25-26, 2026. This decision ensures that suburban services remain unaffected for commuters. Meanwhile, Central Railway is proceeding with its scheduled maintenance, and severe weather conditions in Gujarat have led to significant disruptions for long-distance commuters.

  • Mumbai Central to Mahim night block canceled to maintain suburban services.
  • Central Railway mega block on Thane-Kalyan and Trans Harbour lines continues as planned.
  • Heavy rains in Gujarat lead to cancellation of Vande Bharat, Duronto, and MEMU services.
  • Passengers advised to anticipate at least two hours of additional transit time due to ongoing speed restrictions.

Maintenance Work and Suburban Disruptions

While the Western Railway night block is off, Central Railway is moving ahead with a mega block on the Thane-Kalyan Up and Down fast lines from 10:40 AM to 3:40 PM on July 26. During this period, fast and semi-fast local trains will be diverted, leading to delays of approximately 10 minutes. Furthermore, all services on the Thane-Vashi/Nerul Trans Harbour corridor are suspended from 11:10 AM to 4:10 PM on the same day to facilitate essential infrastructure maintenance.

Impact of Gujarat Rains on Rail Traffic

Persistent heavy rainfall and severe waterlogging in the Ahmedabad-Viramgam section, along with flooding in Valsad, Vapi, Surat, and Navsari, have severely impacted rail operations on July 25 and 26. The disruption has forced the cancellation of several premium services, including the 22925 Ahmedabad – Okha Vande Bharat Express and the 22926 Okha – Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express.

Other notable cancellations include two Duronto Express trains, the Gujarat Queen, and five MEMU services. Additionally, over 13 long-distance trains, such as the 12935 Bandra Terminus-Surat Express and the 19101 Virar-Bharuch Express, have been cancelled.

Travel Advisory for Passengers

Although rail services on the Mumbai-Gujarat corridor showed signs of recovery on July 25, the network remains fragile. Officials have implemented speed restrictions and are conducting urgent repairs on affected bridges and track sections. Consequently, passengers should prepare for significant delays.

Indian Railways strongly advises travelers to verify the latest status of their trains before heading to the station. Real-time updates can be accessed via the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) app, official social media handles, the RailMadad portal, IRCTC mobile applications, or by dialing the 139 Railway Helpline.
