A railway overbridge being built on NH-730 in Gola Gokaran Nath, Uttar Pradesh, has come under scrutiny. The project, which started in February 2021, has faced quality issues and delays. Cracks appeared in the approach walls before the bridge was even open for public use.
What happened to the Gola Gokaran Nath overbridge?
The overbridge is 2450 meters long and 10.5 meters wide. On May 4, 2026, several cracks were found in the approach walls. Officials stated that soil sinking during rains caused the retaining wall to spread. To fix this, engineers started inserting 17-meter long iron rods and building RCC retaining walls around the affected areas.
Why is the construction work delayed?
The project has not been completed even after five years. As of May 20, 2026, work on the upper section stopped for a month due to a shortage of bitumen (tar). Site engineer Dilip Kumar from Vijay Construction mentioned that a request for materials has been sent and work is expected to finish by the first week of June.
