Indian Railways has started transporting automobiles to the Kashmir Valley, marking a significant improvement in connectivity and trade.
Indian Railways has made a big achievement by bringing the first-ever train full of cars to the Kashmir Valley. This happened on October 3, 2025, when a train carrying more than 100 vehicles reached the Anantnag Goods Terminal.
The train journeyed from Manesar in Haryana and crossed the impressive Chenab Arch Bridge, which is the highest railway bridge in the world. This is the first time that finished cars have been sent to the Valley by train.
This development is a result of the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link project, which was started earlier this year. This project has connected the Kashmir Valley to the national railway network, ending years of being cut off and opening up new business opportunities.
With the completion of this railway link, new train services like Vande Bharat Express have begun, making travel faster and more modern for both locals and tourists. Additionally, parcel train services for apple farmers in the Valley have also been launched, helping them send their produce to Delhi quickly.
