Raebareli is seeing some important railway updates. The Division Railway Manager (DRM) of the North Central Railway inspected the Unchahar station recently. During the visit, he mentioned that work to double the railway line from Raebareli to Prayagraj via Unchahar will start within the next four months.
About 1,350 stations across the country are being developed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The DRM informed that 40 stations in the Lucknow division are part of this project. Unchahar is one of the four stations where work was delayed due to the need for doubling and a third line. It was important to wait before starting any construction to avoid unnecessary demolitions later.
For local passengers, this doubling of the railway line will mean more efficient travel to Prayagraj. The exact dates for when work will begin are not yet announced, but the next four months will be crucial for the improvements. The DRM also discussed safety concerns related to recent incidents of stone-pelting on Vande Bharat trains. He assured that the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) are investigating. Meanwhile, awareness campaigns are being conducted in nearby villages and schools to educate people on the seriousness of such acts.
Additionally, construction of 12 new rooms in the railway colony is underway, with plans to increase the number to 24 soon. The DRM arrived at Unchahar by special train and met with local officials and staff during his visit, ensuring that the development plans are on track.
