What’s inside:

This article discusses the increasing incidents of stone pelting on trains, particularly on the Delhi-Ambala route, and the measures being taken by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to address this issue.

Delhi-Ambala railway line is seeing a rise in stone pelting incidents, especially affecting the Vande Bharat trains. In just 10 months, there have been seven reported cases of stone throwing on these trains, causing damage to windows and coaches.

From Gannaur to Narela, a 33-kilometer stretch has become a hotspot for such incidents. In response, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) is taking strong action and running awareness campaigns to prevent stone pelting. They have already arrested one suspect and are working to identify others.

As part of their efforts, the RPF has launched an initiative called ‘Operation Dosti’. This program involves visiting schools, colleges, and community areas to educate people about the serious consequences of throwing stones at trains.

Officials highlight that even a small stone can cause severe injuries to passengers in high-speed trains like Vande Bharat. This campaign aims to make the community understand that such actions are not just pranks but serious threats to safety.

The RPF has stepped up surveillance and taken action against 62 individuals for suspicious activities near the railway tracks. They are determined to eliminate stone pelting on this route and are emphasizing the legal consequences that offenders will face under railway laws.

Summary:

  • Stone pelting incidents on trains are increasing on the Delhi-Ambala route.

  • The RPF has arrested one suspect and is identifying more offenders.

  • ‘Operation Dosti’ aims to raise awareness in local communities.

  • Even small stones can cause serious harm to passengers.

  • The RPF is increasing patrols and enforcing strict penalties for offenders.
