Rail passengers traveling between Gorakhpur and Lucknow will face significant disruptions in June and July 2026. North Eastern Railway has announced a mega block for infrastructure upgrades, which will impact a total of 129 trains. This move is part of a larger plan to increase train speeds and reduce travel time on this busy route.

The mega block has led to a major reshuffle in train operations. According to CPRO Sumit Kumar, the impact on services is as follows:

A major mega block is scheduled from July 5 to July 10, 2026, on the Gorakhpur-Lucknow route. Additionally, a traffic block is in place from Friday until June 9, 2026, between Pipraich and Unaula stations on the Narkatiaganj-Gorakhpur section for doubling work.
