Shahdol railway station is set for a major transformation as part of the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The redevelopment project focuses on modernizing passenger amenities and improving station infrastructure to ensure a seamless travel experience for commuters. Key updates regarding the station project include:
- Construction of a 30-meter-long Foot Over Bridge (FOB) connecting platforms 1, 2, and 3.
- Installation of two lifts and ramps to improve accessibility for elderly and differently-abled passengers.
- A total project budget of INR 16.59 crore allocated for station enhancement.
- Direct oversight by South East Central Railway DRM Rakesh Ranjan to ensure quality and timely delivery.
Enhancing Passenger Convenience
The new Foot Over Bridge is a vital addition to the station, designed to eliminate the need for passengers to cross tracks manually, thereby prioritizing safety and efficiency. By linking all three platforms, the bridge will significantly ease the movement of passengers carrying luggage. The integration of lifts and ramps is a major step forward in making the station more inclusive and user-friendly for all travelers.
Project Progress and Oversight
On July 30, 2026, South East Central Railway DRM Rakesh Ranjan conducted an on-site inspection to review the ongoing redevelopment works. During his visit, he emphasized the need for high-quality construction standards and urged officials to expedite the remaining tasks. The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme aims to not only upgrade the technical infrastructure but also beautify the station premises to provide a modern, world-class environment for railway users.
While the station is undergoing extensive upgrades, the completion of the FOB and the installation of the lifts remain the primary focus areas. Currently, these essential components are in the final stages of execution. Once completed, these facilities are expected to drastically improve the station’s operational capacity and passenger satisfaction. Although the project’s pending status has slightly delayed the official inauguration, authorities are working diligently to ensure that all safety and convenience features are fully functional at the earliest.
