Central Railway has suspended the regular passenger services of the Neral-Matheran Toy Train for the monsoon season. The suspension on the Neral–Aman Lodge section is effective from June 15, 2026, and will remain in place until October 15, 2026. This decision was taken to ensure passenger safety during heavy rains.
Why is the Toy Train service suspended?
Railway authorities decided to stop the regular services due to safety risks during the monsoon. Heavy rainfall often leads to reduced visibility and waterlogging on the tracks. The primary concern is the possibility of landslides along the hilly route, making the Neral–Aman Lodge section risky for operations.
What are the alternative travel options?
Passengers traveling from Neral can use shared taxis to reach Dasturi Naka. From there, travelers can use horse rides, e-rickshaws, or pedestrian paths to reach Aman Lodge. Once at Aman Lodge, the shuttle train service to Matheran remains operational.
Details of the ongoing shuttle service
