The long-awaited infrastructure boost for Balrampur has officially begun as construction on the Jharkhandi Railway Overbridge (ROB) commenced on August 7, 2026. This vital project aims to eliminate persistent traffic bottlenecks in the region and streamline connectivity along National Highway-730. Local residents and daily commuters stand to benefit significantly from this initiative, which is set to improve transit times and stimulate regional economic growth.
Key highlights of the project include:
• A total project cost of 292 crore rupees.
• A 1.21-kilometer-long bridge structure.
• Support provided by 35 robust concrete pillars.
• Strategic location to ease traffic on National Highway-730.
A Milestone for Balrampur Connectivity
The groundbreaking ceremony was held at M.P.P. Inter College, where MLA Sadar Paltu Ram inaugurated the project amidst Vedic chants. The event was attended by Municipal Council President Dr. Dhirendra Pratap Singh ‘Dheeru’ and various local dignitaries, marking a significant step forward for the town’s modernization.
For years, commuters have faced delays due to the railway crossing, which frequently disrupted traffic flow. This new overbridge is designed to provide a seamless passage, directly benefiting travelers moving between Balrampur, Shravasti, and Bahraich. By reducing idling time at the crossing, the project will lead to noticeable savings in both time and fuel costs for motorists and freight transporters alike.
Commitment to Quality and Timely Delivery
Representatives from Setu Nigam, the state’s bridge construction corporation, have expressed their firm commitment to maintaining high-quality engineering standards throughout the construction phase. Officials stated that the project is being monitored closely to ensure it meets the stipulated deadline, minimizing inconvenience to the public during the building process.
Beyond immediate traffic relief, the Jharkhandi ROB is expected to act as a catalyst for local trade. Improved road infrastructure often leads to better market access and increased commercial activity, positioning Balrampur for sustained development. As the 35 pillars begin to rise, the town looks forward to a future of safer, faster, and more efficient travel, marking a new chapter in the region’s transport infrastructure.
