To enhance passenger convenience during the upcoming Shravani Mela 2026, Jasidih Railway Station has officially launched a new, advanced Digi Locker facility. This service, which became operational on July 26, 2026, is designed to provide secure luggage storage for the millions of Kanwariyas and pilgrims traveling toward Deoghar. By utilizing a fully digital, OTP-based system, the station has eliminated the risks associated with physical keys, ensuring that travelers can store their belongings safely and retrieve them conveniently using a one-time password sent directly to their mobile phones.

While the introduction of the Digi Locker facility has been well-received, many pilgrims have noted that the current capacity may be insufficient given the massive footfall expected during the Mela. Frequent travelers have suggested that the administration should increase the availability by adding 200 to 300 additional lockers to better manage the demand. Currently, similar facilities are also being provided in Sultanganj, where approximately 200 lockers have been made available.
Comprehensive Security and Logistics
The Shravani Mela preparations involve a massive coordination effort between Eastern Railway, the Deoghar Police, GRP, and RPF. To ensure a smooth experience, the authorities have set up an AI-based control room equipped with facial recognition and ANPR technology. Surveillance will be maintained 24/7 through drones and smart CCTV cameras. For the ease of pilgrims, the administration has established 21 temporary police outposts and 34 technologically linked information centers to assist in locating missing individuals.
Furthermore, the administration has implemented strict crowd control measures, including a ban on mobile phones inside the Garbhagriha and the prohibition of double-decker Kanwariya vehicles within city limits to manage traffic flow. Essential amenities such as health camps, drinking water, and changing rooms have been strategically placed along the route to support the influx of devotees.
