Rewari Junction Railway Station has taken a significant step toward modernizing its passenger services by installing five new high-tech Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) as of July 26, 2026. These new units are designed to eliminate the technical glitches that plagued the four older machines, ensuring a smoother and more reliable ticketing experience for thousands of daily commuters. By streamlining the process, the station aims to reduce long queues and improve overall service efficiency for all passengers.
Key highlights of the new ATVM rollout include:
- Replacement of four outdated machines with five modern, user-friendly units.
- Dedicated facilitators deployed at four machines to assist the elderly and first-time users.
- Self-service functionality available on the fifth machine for independent digital transactions.
- Broad range of services, including second-class single/return tickets, platform tickets, and season ticket renewals.
Enhanced Passenger Support and Digital Initiatives
To ensure a seamless transition to the new technology, Northern Railway’s Ambala Division has prioritized human support alongside the digital upgrade. By stationing facilitators at most of the machines, the railway is helping passengers navigate the interface with ease, encouraging the shift toward cashless and paperless transactions. Passengers who utilize Railway Smart Cards for these transactions continue to benefit from bonus credits upon recharging, making the ATVMs a cost-effective choice for regular travelers.
Expansion of ATVM Facilitator Network
The upgrade at Rewari is part of a larger regional push to enhance station infrastructure. The Ambala Division is currently inviting applications for 64 ATVM Facilitator positions across 28 railway stations. These contractual roles are open to both the general public and retired railway employees. Interested candidates have until August 10, 2026, to submit their applications. These roles are offered for an initial period of one year, with the possibility of an extension for up to two years, further cementing the railway’s commitment to improving passenger-facing services across the division.
