Central Railway has officially announced a mega block for its Mumbai suburban network on Sunday, August 2, 2026, to carry out essential engineering and maintenance works. These scheduled maintenance activities are vital for ensuring the long-term safety and reliability of tracks, signaling systems, and overhead equipment across the network. Passengers are advised to plan their travel in advance as several services will face cancellations, diversions, or delays throughout the day.
Key highlights of the upcoming mega block include:
- Main Line: Block between Matunga and Mulund (Up and Down fast lines) from 11:05 AM to 3:45 PM.
- Harbour Line: Suspension of services between CSMT and Chunabhatti/Bandra stations.
- Main Line Impact: Fast trains diverted to slow lines with expected delays of 15 minutes.
- Harbour Line Relief: Special shuttle services running between Panvel and Kurla every 20 minutes.
Main Line Disruptions
On the Main Line, the block will be in effect on the Up and Down fast lines between Matunga and Mulund stations from 11:05 AM to 3:45 PM. During this window, Down fast services departing from CSMT between 10:36 AM and 3:10 PM will be diverted onto the Down slow line at Matunga. These trains will halt at all scheduled stations and are expected to reach their destinations roughly 15 minutes behind schedule. Similarly, Up fast line trains leaving Thane from 11:03 AM to 3:38 PM will be diverted to the Up slow line at Mulund, also resulting in a 15-minute delay.
Harbour Line Service Changes
The Harbour Line will face more significant disruptions. Services from CSMT to Vashi, Belapur, and Panvel departing between 11:16 AM and 4:47 PM will be suspended. Additionally, services from CSMT to Bandra and Goregaon departing between 10:48 AM and 4:43 PM will also remain cancelled. In the return direction, Up Harbour line services for CSMT from Panvel, Belapur, and Vashi (9:53 AM to 3:20 PM) and from Goregaon and Bandra (10:45 AM to 5:13 PM) will not operate.
To assist commuters, special shuttle services will run between Panvel and Kurla (Platform No. 8) at a frequency of 20 minutes. Central Railway has suggested that Harbour line passengers use Main Line and Western Railway services between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM to reach their destinations. The administration requests that commuters cooperate during this maintenance period and plan their travel to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
