Indian Railways has changed the routes of 10 long-distance express trains operating on the Delhi-Howrah section. This decision was taken to carry out essential railway upgradation work. The diversion is causing significant inconvenience to thousands of passengers traveling during the summer heat.
Which passengers are most affected by the route change?
Passengers from Aligarh are facing the most trouble due to these changes. Many travelers now have to go to Ghaziabad to catch their trains. This has led to difficulties in boarding, and some passengers are unable to access VIP trains as per their original bookings.
What is the reason behind these train diversions?
The diversions are part of a larger plan to upgrade the railway infrastructure. Similar work was recently carried out by the East Central Railway at Neora station for non-interlocking (NI) work to improve connectivity on the Neora-Jat Dumri line. These upgrades are necessary for safer and faster train operations across the corridor.
