The wait for metro connectivity in Greater Noida West is coming to an end. The Railway Board has officially granted the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the proposed metro line. This project will connect Noida Sector 51 to Greater Noida West Sector 4, providing a much-needed transport solution for thousands of residents.
What is the route and where will the stations be?
The proposed metro line will cover a total distance of 7.5 kilometers. To avoid overlap with the Ghaziabad-Jewar RRTS corridor, the plan has been modified. The line will feature 5 stations to ensure easy access for commuters. The planned stations are as follows:
| Station Number | Proposed Location/Sector |
|---|---|
| 1 | Sector-61 |
| 2 | Sector-70 |
| 3 | Sector-122 |
| 4 | Sector-123 |
| 5 | Greater Noida Sector-4 (Near Kisan Chowk) |
What is the current status and timeline of the project?
Following the Railway Board’s NOC, the project will now be presented to the Public Investment Board (PIB) for utility approval. After PIB clears it, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) will go to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) for final sanction. If everything moves as planned, construction work is expected to start before Diwali 2026.
The project will be implemented by the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC). Funding for the project will be shared jointly by the Central Government, State Government, Noida Authority, and Greater Noida Authority. The estimated cost is discussed between 900 crore to 1500 crore rupees, with a final assessment expected after the PIB meeting.
How will this project impact the local residents?
NMRC Managing Director Krishna Karunesh stated that this route will benefit more than 1.25 lakh people. The primary goal is to improve public transportation and provide relief from the heavy traffic jams often seen in the Greater Noida West area. It will make daily commuting faster and more reliable for office goers and residents.
