Gurugram Railway Station is getting a massive makeover to become a modern rail hub for Delhi NCR. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the station will undergo a huge expansion to improve passenger experience. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for this project on February 26-27, 2024.
What are the new facilities at Gurugram Station?
The station will feature a new 9-story terminal building. This building will be divided into different sections to manage railway work and passenger needs. Three floors will house railway offices, while one floor will be for passenger waiting areas and premium lounges. The remaining four floors will have commercial spaces like food courts, showrooms, and cafes.
How much will the station expand and what is the cost?
The project has an estimated cost of ₹300 crore. The station area is increasing from about 1,500 square meters to 23,587 square meters, which is more than a 15-fold increase. A new fourth platform will also be built to handle more trains.

What about connectivity and traffic management?
To reduce crowd and traffic, the station will have multiple entry and exit points with dedicated pick-up and drop-off zones. A roof plaza will connect both sides of the tracks. Additionally, officials are studying a 1.8km metro spur from Sector 5 to link the station with the Millennium City Centre-Cyber City Metro Corridor.
