Expanded Services Across Zones
Central Railway has taken a proactive step by confirming 246 reserved special trains to cater to the massive demand during the Ganpati festival. Meanwhile, Western Railway is focusing on continuity by extending the run of several popular trains. The Mumbai Central-Kanpur Anwarganj special (09185/09186) will see five additional trips, operating until August 30 and 31 respectively. Similarly, the Indore-Hazrat Nizamuddin special (09309/09310) has been extended until August 30, 2026. Passengers can book these extended services through the IRCTC website or at PRS counters, with bookings having officially opened on July 29, 2026.
New Routes and Regional Connectivity
To boost regional connectivity, a new weekly special, the Veraval-Prayagraj special (04174/04173), will run from August 7 through September 25, 2026. Additionally, Northern Railway has introduced unreserved special trains to support pilgrims and travelers in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Uttarakhand for Shravan and Guru Purnima. For those traveling between Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, the Kanpur-Kolkata special (04157) has been introduced, running weekly on Tuesdays from July 28 to September 29, 2026.
Railway authorities have urged passengers to cross-check their PNR status and confirm train schedules before heading to the station, as operational and administrative adjustments can occur. With festival season approaching, booking early is highly recommended to avoid the last-minute rush.
