Indian Railways has initiated several safety measures to ensure smooth train operations as temperatures rise across the country. These steps follow guidelines from the Railway Board to prevent accidents caused by extreme heat. Special focus is being given to track maintenance and staff alertness to keep passengers safe.
What are the key safety measures for tracks?
- Railway staff have started hot weather patrolling on all sensitive routes to monitor track behavior.
- Priority is being given to de-stressing tracks that are in poor condition to avoid deformation.
- Security personnel are conducting regular inspections at level crossing gates and curved sections of the tracks.
- Continuous monitoring is active in areas where the soil is prone to shrinking due to heat.
How is the railway staff being prepared?
Intensive summer counseling sessions have been organized for Loco Pilots, Station Managers, and track patrolling staff. According to Abhinav Siddharth, Senior DCM of Danapur, these sessions focus on operational vigilance and managing heat-related risks. The goal is to prevent accidents and ensure a safe journey for all passengers during the peak summer months.
What other updates are there for passengers?
To manage the summer rush, Indian Railways has introduced special trains from Udhna to Danapur and Jaynagar, some of which pass through the Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) station. Additionally, the Danapur division of East Central Railway has already started precautionary measures as per the Railway Board’s instructions to maintain high standards of asset maintenance.
