The North Eastern Railway has requested the Railway Board to fill 2467 posts for the year 2025, out of which panels for 451 posts have already been received. For the year 2026, a proposal for 2556 posts has been sent. This includes 105 indent positions for Assistant Loco Pilots and a demand for 89 new posts.
Why is there a need for more staff?
General Manager Uday Borwankar stated that the zone currently has 45,530 employees. However, more manpower is needed because new trains are being introduced and projects like doubling and third-line tracks are underway. He also mentioned that the Human Resource Management System (HRMS) has launched 29 modules to make employee work easier through digitalization.
