The Patna Metro Rail Corporation (PMRC) has reached a major milestone in the city’s transport project. The tunnel excavation between Moin-ul-Haq Stadium and Gandhi Maidan is now 100% complete as of May 2026. This underground stretch is a key part of the priority corridor and will help reduce traffic in the busiest parts of the city.
What is the current status of Patna Metro tunnels?
The work is moving fast across different sections of the underground network. While the Stadium to Gandhi Maidan stretch is finished, the section between Gandhi Maidan and Akashvani is about 90% complete. Engineers expect to finish this remaining part very soon, after which they will start installing tracks and other systems.
What are the upcoming deadlines and developments?
Tunnelling along Nehru Path will start in June 2026. To prepare for this, the PMRC has already started soil testing and putting up barricades near the Patna Zoo, Vikas Bhawan, and Income Tax roundabout. The goal is to complete the entire underground section of Corridor II by the end of 2026.
