Passengers at major railway stations in Patna are facing a severe drinking water crisis due to the intense heatwave. Many water coolers are non-functional, and several taps are broken or missing, forcing travelers to buy bottled water. This situation has become more difficult as crowds increase during summer vacations and wedding seasons.

Which stations are most affected by the water crisis?
The water shortage is widespread across several stations under the Danapur Division. The current status is as follows:
| Station Name | Current Condition |
|---|---|
| Patna Sahib | 60 taps available but water coolers are not working. |
| Phulwari Sharif | Most taps are closed and some nozzles are missing. |
| Bakhtiyarpur | Taps on platforms 4 and 5 are leaking or broken. |
| Danapur | Polyethylene bags used on taps to stop leakage on platforms 2 and 3. |
| Fatuha | Most taps on platforms 4 and 5 are non-functional. |
What is the official response and current situation?
DRM Vinod Kumar and DCM Abhinav Siddharth had held a meeting on March 30, 2026, to ensure chiller plants and drinking water facilities were ready for summer. However, the current ground reality shows these preparations were not fully effective. Railway officials stated that trains are also running late due to heavy traffic and operational reasons.
To help passengers, the Patna Municipal Corporation has deployed “Nigam Neer” water vehicles near Patna Junction and Rajendra Nagar stations. People can report water-related issues to the zonal office or via the toll-free number 155304 and WhatsApp chatbot 9264447449.
