The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved four major railway multitracking projects with a total cost of approximately ₹11,169 crore. - Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar) – Parbhani Doubling: This project will improve connectivity within Maharashtra.
- Aluabari Road – New Jalpaiguri 3rd and 4th Lines: This will increase capacity in West Bengal and help trains reach the Northeast faster.
- Dangoaposi – Jaroli 3rd and 4th Lines: This expansion will help move iron ore to steel plants in Odisha and Jharkhand.

These projects will benefit about 43.60 lakh people across 2,309 villages in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand. The expansion is part of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan to make logistics more efficient.
