To assist thousands of aspirants travelling for the upcoming Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Level-1 examinations, the Northern Railway has announced the operation of six unreserved special trains across Punjab. These special services will run from August 3 to August 6, 2026, ensuring that students can reach their examination centres comfortably despite the anticipated heavy passenger rush.
Key highlights of the travel arrangements include:
- Operation of 6 unreserved special trains in Punjab between August 3 and August 6, 2026.
- CBT for RRB Group D Level-1 posts (CEN 09/2025) scheduled from August 3 to August 25, 2026.
- Nationwide arrangements including extra General coaches and additional Second Sitting coaches on Jan Shatabdi Express.
- Extended support from the Bilaspur division with extra coaches available from August 2 to August 24, 2026.
Exam Schedule and Preparation
The RRB Group D Computer Based Test (CBT) is set to take place over 16 exam days. Following the official notice issued on July 30, 2026, the board successfully released admit cards for candidates appearing on August 3 and 4, 2026, on July 31. Students had previously accessed their exam city intimation slips starting from July 24, 2026, allowing them ample time to plan their journey.
Nationwide Travel Support
Recognizing the massive scale of the recruitment drive, the railway administration has gone beyond the Punjab-specific special trains. To manage the surge in passenger traffic, authorities have decided to add extra General coaches to specific express and passenger trains across the network. Furthermore, the Jan Shatabdi Express will feature an additional Second Sitting coach to provide more seating capacity.
In the Bilaspur division, these logistical adjustments are active from August 2 through August 24, 2026. These measures underscore the commitment of Indian Railways to support students during this critical examination period, ensuring that candidates can focus on their performance rather than the stress of travel. Candidates are advised to check the official website for updated train timings and station departures to plan their travel accordingly.
