This project, which received initial approval on August 5, 2026, and formal confirmation on August 8, 2026, is set to significantly enhance rail capacity across the Northern Railway network. The initiative is a vital step toward reducing congestion and improving the overall travel experience for thousands of daily passengers.

- Total distance covered: 114 km, comprising a 70 km stretch from Bareilly to Chandausi and a 44 km stretch from Chandausi to Moradabad.
- Current traffic load: The route currently handles 14 pairs of trains, which frequently face congestion-related delays.
- Project scope: Part of the larger Bareilly-Chandausi-Aligarh doubling initiative with a cumulative budget allocation exceeding ₹2,000 crore.
