Launched on July 1, 2025, RailOne was designed to be a one-stop solution for all railway needs. By consolidating services such as reserved and unreserved ticketing, platform ticket generation, and real-time train inquiries, the app has simplified travel for millions. A standout feature is the AI-based waitlist confirmation prediction, which currently boasts an impressive 94% accuracy rate, helping passengers plan their journeys with greater confidence.
The platform also supports a Single Sign-On (SSO) facility and multilingual accessibility, ensuring that it remains user-friendly for a diverse population. In a move to encourage paperless travel, the app now allows passengers to book unreserved tickets from home, offering a 3% discount on all digital payments.
The Shift Toward Paperless Travel
The rapid adoption of RailOne underscores a broader trend in Indian Railways. Today, 89% of reserved tickets are booked online, a dramatic increase from the 49% recorded in 2013-14. Furthermore, nearly 39% of unreserved tickets are now processed through non-counter methods, such as the app, reducing the burden on station ticket windows.
To support this growing digital traffic, Indian Railways is currently initiating the phased migration of its services to an upgraded, high-speed Next-Generation Passenger Reservation System (PRS). This infrastructure update, which began in August 2026, is set to further streamline operations and provide a more robust, lag-free experience for millions of daily users, cementing RailOne’s status as the primary tool for rail travel in India.
