Farrukhabad railway station is getting a major makeover to make travel easier for passengers. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the station will now get a new overbridge equipped with lifts and escalators. This move aims to stop passengers from dangerously crossing tracks and will be a huge relief for senior citizens.
What are the new facilities coming to Farrukhabad station?
The station is being developed with a budget of ₹16.85 crore to provide airport-like facilities. The work on escalators has already started, with iron pillars installed on Platform 1 and foundation digging completed for Platforms 2 and 3. Along with the overbridge, the project includes new waiting rooms, refreshment rooms, retiring rooms, and better toilet blocks.
How will this improve passenger safety and access?
Crossing tracks is a dangerous habit that has led to several fatal accidents at this station. RPF Station House Officer Omprakash Meena mentioned that nearly 300 passengers were fined up to April this year to discourage this practice. The new overbridge will provide a safe path, while the government has also approved two Road Over Bridges (ROB) at Devrampura and Nagla Khairband with a ₹100 crore budget to reduce city traffic jams.
