Passengers at Hilsa Railway Station in Nalanda district will soon get better facilities. The East Central Railway’s Danapur Division has given approval for the construction of a high-level platform and a foot overbridge. This move aims to make boarding and exiting trains easier for all passengers.
What are the key updates for Hilsa Station?
- A high-level platform and a 6-meter wide foot overbridge will be constructed.
- The approval was confirmed by Anil Kumar Singh, Assistant Public Information Officer and Senior Divisional Engineer-1 of Danapur Division.
- The construction work will start as soon as the tender process is completed.
- Repair and beautification of the platform and waiting rooms are already underway and will continue until April 29, 2026.
Why was this construction necessary?
Local residents and passengers faced several problems due to the low-level platform. Women, elderly people, children, and pregnant women struggled to climb into trains, which often led to accidents and injuries. Additionally, the lack of a foot overbridge forced passengers to cross the tracks on foot, posing a serious risk to their lives, especially when trains were parked on the tracks for long durations.
Who pushed for these changes?
The demand for these facilities was raised through a signature campaign by the Jan Kalyan Sangh and Welfare Society in June 2024. Information regarding the approval was later obtained by RTI activist Manoj Prakash through the Right to Information Act.
