As of January 31, 2026, 99.4% of the broad gauge network was electrified, covering 69,744 route km. By May 31, 2026, this figure increased to 99.6%, with 70,002 route km out of a total 70,271 route km completed.
Which states have completed 100% electrification
The Ministry of Railways stated that 25 States and Union Territories have already achieved 100% electrification of their broad gauge networks. This means there are no pending route kilometres in those specific regions.

Only five states still have some broad gauge sections that are not yet electrified. These states together have 269 route km of work remaining as of May 31, 2026. The states are listed below:
