Indian Railways has officially announced the launch of a new special train service connecting Ahmedabad and Patna while simultaneously extending the operational period for several popular special trains across the country. These measures, confirmed by East Central Railway (ECR) Chief Public Relations Officer Saraswati Chandra, are designed to manage the surge in passenger traffic and provide reliable travel options for commuters during peak periods through 2026.

New Ahmedabad-Patna Connectivity
To cater to the high demand on the Ahmedabad-Patna route, Indian Railways has scheduled the 09447 Ahmedabad-Patna Special to depart from Ahmedabad on July 22, 2026. The return journey, operated as the 09448 Patna-Ahmedabad Special, is set to depart from Patna on July 24, 2026. This follows a series of additional runs, including an extension for July 1 and July 3, along with a special service that departed on July 17, 2026, at 10:30 pm to assist passengers with immediate travel requirements.
Extension of Key Special Trains
The railway authorities have prioritized the extension of several high-demand corridors to ensure passenger convenience. The Danapur-SMVB (Bengaluru) Special (03251/03252) will now serve passengers on a daily basis from July 17 until August 31, 2026. Similarly, the Saraigarh-Deoghar MEMU Special (05573/05574) has been extended to run daily until August 31, 2026.
Furthermore, several other routes, including the Anand Vihar-Loukha Bazar, Saharsa-Purnia Court, and the Mau-Kolkata special (05096/05095), have received extensions reaching into September 2026. East Central Railway officials have strongly advised all passengers to check the updated schedules and confirm their reservation status via the official IRCTC website or the NTES app before heading to the station to avoid any last-minute inconvenience.
