Eastern Railway has announced a 7-hour mega block on the Jamalpur-Kiul section on April 26, 2026. This block is scheduled from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM for the construction of subway RCC boxes and slabs. This work will take place between Abhaypur and Kajra stations to remove level crossing gates 26 and 27, as well as gate 24 between Dharhara and Abhaypur.

Several local and passenger trains will be completely cancelled during this period. This includes the Jamalpur-Kiul-Jamalpur passenger and various services between Gaya, Jamalpur, and Saharsa. Some trains will also have shorter routes.

Long-distance trains will face delays ranging from 1 to 5 hours. Officials have advised passengers to check their train status before starting their journey to avoid inconvenience.
- Brahmaputra Mail: Controlled for up to 5 hours on April 25.
- Ranchi-Bhagalpur Special: Rescheduled by 2 hours on April 25.
- Ajmer-Bhagalpur Express: Delayed by approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
- Banka-Rajendra Nagar Intercity: Rescheduled by 60 minutes on April 26.
- Vikramshila Express & Dumka-Patna Express: Expected to be delayed.
Why is this mega block necessary?
CPRO Shibram Manjhi and DRM Manish Kumar Gupta stated that this work is essential for passenger safety and smoother traffic. Replacing level crossing gates with subways will permanently solve traffic jams and improve the security of the railway tracks for both road and rail users.
