The Indian Railways is accelerating the work to connect the third line between Jhansi and Bina. This project will improve rail connectivity and benefit 32 railway stations along the route. Senior officials from West Central Railway and North Central Railway recently held a joint meeting to finalize the Non-Interlocking (NI) work and have sent the report to the Railway Board for approval.

How will the work affect train services?
The process of connecting the third line to the existing tracks will take approximately 60 days. During this period, several trains will be blocked or diverted to alternative routes. Trains starting from Bina station will be the most affected. Railway officials are preparing a detailed plan to ensure minimum inconvenience for passengers during this transition.
Key details of the Jhansi-Bina project
The project was approved in 2016 with a significant investment to reduce congestion and increase train speed. While most of the work is in the final stages, some sections required adjustments due to heritage sites.

What are the recent updates on track layout?
In some areas, the layout had to be changed. For example, between Dhaura and Jakhloun, the track is being diverted by 5.01 km to protect historical Jain temples identified by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Land acquisition for this diversion is currently underway to ensure the project stays on track.
