Kanpur Elevated Track: Railway asks for 1000 sq meter extra land for Anwarganj-Mandhana project

The Indian Railways has requested an additional 1000 square meters of land for the construction of the Anwarganj-Mandhana elevated track in Kanpur. This project aims to remove traffic jams at 17 crossings on GT Road. The tender for the project has already been finalized at 830.90 crore rupees.

What are the key details of the project?

The elevated track will be about 15.51 kilometers long and is expected to be completed within three years. The work is scheduled to start from July 1, 2024, and finish by October 30, 2027. The project will replace the Rawatpur and Kalyanpur stations with a new ‘Atal Station’ near the university, which will also connect to the Metro Rail.

Who are the contractors and what is the cost?

The main contract was awarded to Infra Build Project Company from Rajasthan at a cost of 830.90 crore rupees, which is 25.5% lower than the initial estimate of 1115.65 crore rupees. For the specific segments, Ravi Infrastructure from Rajasthan will handle the elevated track, while DD Ahuja firm from Prayagraj will build the Atal Station.
